Besides letting us handle your search, there are a few things to consider when finding a cheap apartment:

• The time of year: Starting your lease in the Winter (around January to be exact) is typically going to be cheaper than the summer
• Location affects quality: a $1000 apartment in montrose will most likely be lower quality than a $1000 apartment in Katy
• Figure out how much space you need, not necessarily want. If you can do with a studio, thats much cheaper than a 2 bed!
• Amenities: which ones HAVE to stay? W/D in unit vs W/D on site? The less amenities, the lower the market rate for the rent will be
• Longer leases typically get the lowest rates

If you're super set on always have a screaming good deal, it can be helpful to live more 'minimally' so you can be ready to move every year. Think of getting easy to move furniture (like a 2 or 3 piece sofa), as opposed to a big sprawling custom built one piece 14 foot long couch.
